STUDENT SUPPORT

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Support

Our elementary school welcomes students with diverse linguistic backgrounds, including those who have limited or no knowledge of English. The English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is tailored to accommodate varying levels of English proficiency. Each student’s learning plan is customized to their individual needs and abilities. Students with minimal English skills may attend separate English classes (pullout support), while others receive in-class assistance (inclusion). Our dedicated teachers closely monitor each student’s progress, adjusting their support strategies throughout the academic year. EAL students transition from intensive pullout classes to inclusion support when they can meet the academic expectations of their core classes. All EAL classes focus on teaching academic English by integrating the content from standard classes.

Learning Support (LS)

Our Learning Support (LS) program provides small-group instruction, targeting students who require early intervention or have mild learning difficulties. The program offers both strategic training and content-based instruction. LS teachers collaborate with regular classroom educators to develop and implement tailored educational programs, focusing on supporting general education coursework. In cases where learning challenges significantly impact students, accommodations are made within the regular academic program without modifying the curriculum or assessments.

Counseling and Guidance

Our counseling and guidance department is dedicated to creating a safe environment where all students can strive for personal and academic excellence. The counselor offers support in academic, behavioral, social, and emotional aspects. Community resources are easily accessible through the counselor’s office and the Elementary Counseling Website.

Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) System

Our elementary school has implemented a Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) system, emphasizing continual teaching, modeling, and reinforcement of positive behavior. This proactive approach reduces disciplinary issues, fostering a climate of productivity, safety, and enhanced learning. PBIS focuses on being proactive and systematic in teaching desired positive behaviors, creating a positive and supportive school environment for all students.
